At least 13 projects in the massive hurricane protection system being built around the. Army Corps of Engineers officials say.

New rleans mayor wants Census to count displaced

Census even if they live elsewhere. Unfortunately that’s against Census rules which call for people to be listed where they are living and sleeping most of the time when the count is taken. It was a comment from a Nagin spokesman earlier this month that touched off debate over how residents displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 should be counted.

Some homes unrepaired year after Hurricane Dolly

Thursday is the first anniversary of Dolly which dumped about 20 inches of rain. The Valley Morning Star reports the San Benito Housing Authority has launched a $538000 project to tear down the Kenneth Lake housing project. The 54-unit complex built in 1982 on a flood plain was swamped during Dolly. Cameron County has applied for a $3 million grant to help more than 100 homeowners rebuild.
