The Tornado from RAF Marham in Norfolk was diverted to the airport on 5 March after hitting a bird. The pilot made an emergency landing and ran onto grass beyond the runway. An Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) report said a fault had affected the reverse thrust but that the pilot should have reduced engine power. Neither of the two crew members were seriously hurt in the incident. Four boys lost their lives and dozens of others were injured when an EF3 tornado tore though western Iowa. The anniversary was a time to remember what was lost and celebrate just how far many have come. They marched quietly then took turns lowering three flags to half-staff. It's been a year since 13-year-olds Ben Petrzilka Sam Thomsen Josh Fennen and 14-year-old Aaron Eilerts lost their lives. “He was a big sports fan but he was more than that” said Sam's father Larry.

Ruben Almaguer interim director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management has proposed that the Federal Emergency Management Agency use foreclosed homes — which are particularly abundant in Florida — as an alternative to placing people in trailers or scattering them around the country. “Historically no one has ever used foreclosed properties” Almaguer said. “If they have 1000 foreclosed properties in the area why not? Alabama May Not Take as Many Hurricane Evacuees

Interim chief operating officer David Marshall said Wednesday that the emergency room will return to full service with 370 new beds and hopes to serve about 44000 patients a year. He says the hospital plans to recruit 100 nurses by July 1. The medical branch has struggled to rebuild since the Sept. 13 hurricane and have sought state support for the reconstruction.
