While there is no federal disaster declaration at this time or announcement of blanket tax relief that can be made regarding storm victims taxpayers who were affected by the devastating tornadoes and storms of April 10 or any taxpayer who is unable to prepare and file a return by today’s tax deadline due to circumstances beyond their control have standard options as listed below. If there is a federal disaster declaration other tax relief provisions will be added to these. Current taxpayer options:-File an extension request (Form 4868) before midnight tonight. This allows the filer an extra six months to prepare and file their federal return.
