According to the National Weather Service the tornado touched down shortly after 5pm Sunday staying on the ground for nearly a mile and a half. The tornado packed winds of 105 miles per hour and was about a 100 yards wide. The Countryside Trailer Park in Columbia City was in the direct path of the storm. Three mobile homes are completely destroyed and more than 20 suffered damage ranging from minor to major.

The go-ahead came Tuesday when the University of Texas System Board of Regents signed off on a plan that would restore John Sealy Hospital add a new surgical tower and reopen the trauma center by summer. The Regents had been considering a plan that would have moved hospital services out of Galveston to League City — about 30 miles away — but that proposal met with widespread public disapproval. ne of the obstacles to restoration was woefully inadequate flood insurance — the hurricane caused an estimated $710 million in damage but the UT system was insured for only $100 million. Adding the new surgical tower would cost another $438 million with funding coming from state and federal governments as well as philanthropies.

href;klahoma City – When President bama declared federal disaster areas in Carter Logan and klahoma counties residents in those counties became eligible for an extension of the tax filing deadline. All taxpayers in those counties even those not affected by the tornadoes are eligible for the extension of the filing deadline to May 11th.
