- The National Weather Service confirmed Monday morning that a tornado touched down near Milan Ind. The NWS said it found two areas where the tornado hit; one was just west of the intersection of Indiana routes 101 and 48 the other was further north along Indiana 101. Experts now believe they have located the Carolina also known as the Caroline on the floor of the Gulf of Mexico just off Galveston Island. A sonar scan shows the ghostly image of an object but more extensive research will have to be done before state marine archeologists can determine if it is indeed the Carolina. The site's location is being kept a secret to prevent the public from plundering what could be an historically important discovery. Some experts think Hurricane Ike which struck Galveston in September 2008 may have uncovered the wreckage.
