High winds brought down part of the sports hall in Sant Boi de Llobregat in northeastern Spain near Barcelona a regional government spokeswoman said killing the four children and injuring nine. Spanish media reported that the children had been playing baseball outside but took shelter in the building. “It seems that the roof shifted and brought down part of the wall” the spokeswoman said. French forecasters warned the storms could be as ferocious as the tempest in 1999 which uprooted millions of trees although over a “more limited geographical area.

3 Hurricane win easily 58-39MRRW — Wilmington returned to the victory column Friday night with a 58-39 win at Little Miami. The Hurricane sweeps the season series with the Panthers having won earlier on its home floor by a 75-32 score. The win by the Hurricane also snapped the Panthers’ two game winning streak and drops Little Miami’s overall record to 4-7. Wilmington is now 11-1 overall and remains unbeaten in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference standings at 6-0. It was a balanced scoring attack for the ’Cane with nine players in the scorebook. Jordan Berlin led the way with 16 followed by Malcolm Heard with 11.

initList); }); } By Linda McNatt The Virginian-Pilot© January 24 2009 SUFFLKA jury awarded a verdict of less than $500000 on Friday to a plaintiff who had asked for nearly $5 million after having had a home damaged by mold as a result of rains from Hurricane Isabel. After 11 days of testimony – some from witnesses with national reputations as mold experts – the trial may go down in Suffolk courts history as the longest and most intense Circuit Judge Carl Eason said at the after-hours conclusion. Sandra Grant a homeowner in the rural Whaleyville section of the city was at home with four children when the hurricane struck in September 2003. The violent storm uprooted and ripped down trees flooded homes and buildings tore down power lines and disrupted electricity for weeks. At Grant’s home in the 1300 block of Freeman Mill Road the winds ripped off part of the roof and broke out a window. Grant said she called the insurance company a few days after the storm. The insurance company Augusta Mutual of Staunton didn’t record her call until the end of the month.
