– An EF0 tornado damaged 14 homes in Brevard County and strong storms knocked out power to more than 3200 area customers in Central Florida Sunday afternoon. The National Weather Service confirmed on Monday that a tornado with winds of 65 to 75 mph touched down at about 3:40 p. in southwest Palm Bay damaging the homes. Florida Power & Light crews restored power to more than 1600 customers in Port Orange and Brevard County.

Some homes had blue tarps on roofs. And contractors already were out giving homeowners estimates to repair the damage. Palm Bay officials did not yet have a dollar estimate of how much damage the tornado did. No one was injured. Keith Rittscher 63 found the roof of his plastic shed near a neighbor’s home about 25 yards away from his Holiday Park house. “That’s my roof” he said pointing to a tangled web of aluminum wedged into Australian pines behind his house. Nearby a collection of plastic pieces rested against his home’s back wall.
