ERICA HILL CNN ANCHOR: And we’re going to continue to cover this story for you. Again breaking news. An apparent tornado hitting downtown Atlanta Georgia right near where CNN is. That’s outside of CNN Center. Our coverage continues right here. ASIEH NAMDAR CNN ANCHOR: Hello everyone… We are following breaking news. A major storm in Atlanta Georgia. The busy downtown area had been hit with an apparent tornado. Centennial Olympic Park the Georgia Dome and CNN Center are in this area and those of us who work at CNN felt this storm a little over two hours ago. There is lots of structural damage to CNN with a number of windows blown out. A college basketball tournament at the nearby sports arena with these packed spectators was disrupted and folks had to be evacuated. Amy Engel a senior producer at CNN.

Mike Curry of Kentucky was in town for the SEC game saying “We started seeing the big monitor over the court start swaying back and forth. Then debris started falling from the ceiling. I’ve been through a tornado before and I feel like that’s what this was. Curry said he believed he saw ceiling tiles fall from the roof but he didn’t see anyone get injured. Many spectators were milling about outside the Georgia Dome. Pieces of pink styrofoam were blowing all over the area outside the Dome. A Fulton County sheriff’s deputy said there had been injuries but he didn’t know if they were inside or outside of the Dome.
Woman sues Six Flags Over Texas over Texas Tornado

It contends operator error contributed to the accident and claims the Texas Tornado quot;contained unreasonably dangerous design defects and was not reasonably safe as intended to be used. quot; Six Flags declined to comment. Several people aboard the Texas Tornado in March 2006 were hurt when the bearings that make the ride spin malfunctioned. The ride’s operator used the emergency safety switch to stop and lower the riders to the ground causing some people to bump into others. Official reports say nine people suffered bruises and back and neck strains.
