Tornado Another Goldmarket Hope
Virtual Form Guide – Dec 29, 2007
Thexton already has two of her stalwarts in Omnitrader and Warrior Trader heading toward the Goldmarket to be run on her home track at the Gold Coast next Saturday. And Thexton said Tornado Alley would likely be her third starter in the event providing the barrier draw doesn't undo her trio's similar on-pace racing patterns. "I will have to nominate him for the Goldmarket after that he deserves his chance" Thexton said. "I've got Omnitrader and Warrior Trader already in the race and as long as the barrier draw doesn't mean they'll be cutting at each other they'll probably all run. "Ridden by his regular partner Bobby El-Issa in Saturday's 1110m sprint Tornado Alley enjoyed the run of the race in fourth place three lengths astern of Babinda Flash who was heavily backed from $4… Babinda Half's supporters were in trouble when the six-year-old threw in the towel upon straightening and as soon as he did El-Issa had Tornado Alley in the perfect position to pounce. Once balanced Tornado Alley sprinted clear and repelled the late challenges from backmarkers Bold Reason and General Patton to score his 12th win from 39 starts for almost $450000 in stakes. The Robert Bradshaw-trained Babinda Half weakened badly to finish seventh. The astute Thexton purposefully dodged Mitanni with Tornado Alley at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago but she won't have the same luck in the Goldmarket with the John Wallace-trained sprinter confirmed a certain starter. Earlier highly talented galloper Swiss Ace stamped himself as a serious winter carnival contender when he extended his record to six wins from seven runs when he scored in the City Pacific Franchisees Hcp (1350m). Trainer Mick Mair and jockey Ken Pope bounced off the canvas after Mair's juvenile Hebitda was beaten into second as the long odds-on favourite at Toowoomba on Friday and the Sunshine Coast duo has now combined for five winners from the past three metropolitan meetings.
