Jackson the secretary of housing and urban development said. “As we approach the second anniversary of one of this nation’s worst natural disasters I’m pleased HUD can extend the program for families who still need help” Mr. Jackson said at an apartment complex in Houston that is now home to 80 displaced families according to a HUD news release.

The tornado knocked out the electricity supply to homes in Waikiki and Port Kennedy near Rockingham about 50km south of Perth but a Western Power spokeswoman said this morning power had been restored. State Emergency Services (SES) volunteers responded to 100 callouts overnight with 32 reports of major roof damage. "In some cases whole airconditioning units were ripped off roofs leaving big holes in the roof and the units down the road" a Fire and Emergency Services Authority spokeswoman said.
