Forecasters predict 2007 will be an above average hurricane season and estimate three to five category 3 storms with high odds that a major hurricane will hit land. So if you live along the Atlantic Coast or Gulf Coast please take heed. What can you do to prepare yourself? First things first: basic necessities. Experts advise stockpiling bottled water nonperishable food medicine and first aid supplies in addition to flashlights duct tape radios (with extra batteries) tarps and other necessities. Evacuation plans are advisable.

The satellite was launched in 1999 and designed to last two to three years. It is now showing signs of its age. Certain hurricane forecasts could be up to 16 percent less accurate if it fails Proenza has said. That could lead to wider areas placed under hurricane watches and warnings. A satellite with technology meant to replace QuikScat would not fly until 2016 seven years later than planned The Associated Press reported last week. Monday night residents were picking up the pieces. Hardest hit was a neighborhood on the southwest edge of town. The tornado was only on the ground for a couple of minutes but it was enough for it to leave its mark. Rachel Medina of Copperas Cove spent Monday with friends and family salvaging anything and everything she could after a tornado gave her her husband and 3-kids the scare of their lives. "You got a 3-year-old and a 7 and 8-year-old and plus trying to stay calm for them yeah real scary" said Medina. “The street was flooded and we looked up and the house across the street had shingles flying all around it.   By the time we had gathered the kids and ran to the bathroom it had already hit the house so we barely made it to the bathroom for protection… ne woman was injured when flying debris struck her in the head. She was treated on the scene and refused to be transported to the hospital. It was a well-defined tornado a dark funnel cloud on a lighter sky" said Dennis Haas chief of the Copperas Cove Fire Dept. "My first thought was for my family’s safety I sent them to a closet in the interior of my house because I wasn’t sure how it was traveling which way that kind of thing. Zach Tomkinson scored a minute and a half later for Barrie before Acorn made it 2-1 just past the halfway mark of the period with his first of the game. Scarborough then scored twice within a minute to make it 3-2 before the Tornado?s Greg Reid knotted the game up at 3-3 with 4:15 left in the frame. Barrie then outscored the Saints 4-2 over the remaining two periods to earn the win… Acorn also had two assists for a five-point effort while Donato added four helpers to his one goal. Coady Adamson was the top point-getter for the Saints scoring once and earning three assists. The game on Sunday was the final home date for the now 11-7 Tornado who head into the final two games of the campaign in fifth place in the East Conference two points back of both Halton Hills and Mimico and four back of second-place akville. The Clarington Green Gaels lead the entire Junior B league as well as the East Conference with a perfect 16-0 record.
