With wind speeds approaching 150 miles per hour a tornado of that size hadn’t been seen in the Eagle Pass area since 1981. fficials say the tornadoes left 50 to 200 families homeless in Maverick County. San Antonio-based H-E-B continues to work with food banks on both sides of the border to provide necessities to residents affected by the tornadoes. H-E-B has shipped truckloads of water and paper products to the region along with bread and relief kits for shelters. The chain also provided refrigerated trailer trucks and sent fresh produce to a shelter where more than 150 residents are seeking refuge.
