Bush leaves Hurricane Katrina victims in his wake

He even quoted sama bin Laden and spent half the speech trying to rally support for his reckless policies in the Middle East. But I was amazed to find what I’d heard was true. Despite the golden opportunity to do so Bush said not one word about the victims of Hurricane Katrina. In a year after the worst natural disaster in American history the Big Easy has fewer than half the number of residents they had before the storm. New rleans has a third the number of schools and child-care centers and restaurants less than half the number of natural gas customers and a fifth the number of buses and trolleys. The number of homes and lots for sale is up by 50 percent according to a recent Brookings Institute study. Vast acreages of former neighborhoods remain uninhabitable ghost towns where children once played and families had deep roots.
Defense Ellis’ hot hand lifts Tornado
Mail Tribune – Jan 27, 2007
Much to the delight of the first-year coach the Black Tornado seems to be catching on. Behind a feisty defense and the rediscovered shooting touch of sophomore guard Jordan Ellis North Medford dived right into the middle of the state-playoff picture with a 53-36 victory over cold-shooting Grants Pass Friday night at the Black Tornado gym. North Medford held the Cavemen to 29 percent shooting (13 of 45) for the game and limited GP to 4-for-17 from the field in the second half. The combination of North’s defensive pressure and the Cavemen’s inability to finish allowed the Tornado to bust loose for a 32-16 advantage in scoring over the final two periods. Advertisement “I think we’re getting closer and closer to the new way we’ve been trying to teach them” said Plankenhorn whose team has now won two straight in the SWC.

Edward’s University and San Jacinto College. More and more schools from the primary level all the way up to major universities are recognizing the importance of having 100% access to their data in the event of a local disaster. Members of the community need to know that their schools and school districts can recover with little downtime after a major event such as a hurricane. Deer Park ISD’s choice to house their backup servers in one of Data Foundry’s premier data centers is just one example of the increasing number of schools and school districts implementing disaster recover plans in the wake of the 2005 hurricane season" said Mark Noonon VP of Data Foundry Inc.
