‘Hurricane on the Bayou’ went from theory to reality

His movie was to explore the theory that the erosion of wetlands over the past 50 years – they’ve lost a land mass equal to New Jersey – has removed an important buffer protecting New rleans from storms. At that stage it was scientific conjecture. Then Hurricane Katrina came barrelling in and proved their point. “We were no longer filming what might happen” MacGillivray said “we were filming what did happen. ”He was in a computer lab working on a simulation of a hurricane washing over the bayou when a friend called advising him to take a look at the Weather Channel. A relatively minor tropical storm many had expected would rain itself out was charging across the Gulf of Mexico gaining ferocity at an alarming rate. “In an hour it went from a category 1 to a category 5” he said… Then Hurricane Katrina came barrelling in and proved their point. “We were no longer filming what might happen” MacGillivray said “we were filming what did happen. ”He was in a computer lab working on a simulation of a hurricane washing over the bayou when a friend called advising him to take a look at the Weather Channel. And based on the computer projections he’d been working on he knew things were going to get nasty. “Unfortunately some of the predictions turned out to be very very close.

7-ranked Black Tornado righted the ship in the final period to eventually climb within three points before dropping a 52-44 decision — its first defeat of the season — in the National Division of the Nike-Laker Interstate Shootout on Wednesday. Senior 6-foot-2 post Lauren Berger had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead North Medford (6-1) which plays West Salem today at noon. “Berger had a great game” said Tornado coach Tim Karrick. “Jesuit’s starting five has no one under 6-foot. They’re very tall athletic and very talented… They’re very tall athletic and very talented. “I thought Berger even with all the talent on the floor was the best player out there tonight. Advertisement The Black Tornado cut the deficit to three points with a minute to play before Jesuit sealed the win at the charity stripe. The late rally was made more difficult by North Medford’s rough patch at the start — Jesuit led 21-10 after one quarter — and the 11-for-28 effort at the foul line. “We missed most of them in the first half” said Karrick of the free-throw shooting woes. “And we give up three 3s in the first quarter that hurt. We weren’t playing real smart.

Shariff anticorruption hurricane
Nigerian Muse – Dec 28, 2006
I do not know the type of "soft landing" he was allegedly seeking to get. But if he is seeking for presidential pardon I want to believe he is too late. For given the tempo and the speed of the anti-corruption hurricane sweeping the shores and hinterland of Nigeria only miracle can save him from Kuje Prison. The same can also be said of our Professor Jude Njoku who would deny things in the afternoon only to confess and seek for presidential pardon in the evening. It is amazing how a whole professor would behave in such ungentlemanly manner to say the least. This also raises the question on his state of sanity as well as quality of his professorship. Something fundamental is certainly wrong somewhere.
