Deconstructing Menino

caused damage in mostly Zone C areas much to the dismay of unsuspecting underwriters who freely or inexpensively included high limits for flood coverage. “Kirshen said that does not necessarily mean Menino should not build his waterfront City Hall even though it will contribute to a culture that hinders the overall fight on global warming. In a letter at the opening of this hurricane season 10 top climate scientists including National Hurricane Center director Max Mayfield University Corporation for Atmospheric Research president Richard Anthes and MIT researcher Kerry Emanuel said the main hurricane problem facing the United States is the ” ever-growing concentration of population and wealth in vulnerable coastal regions” who are “setting us up for rapidly increasing human and economic losses from hurricane disasters” in a “lemming-like march to the sea. “Kirshen said the South Boston waterfront is so “chewed up” by previous industrial and current commercial development that it may not matter much to the coastal environment if another building is added. The South Boston waterfront is never going to become another Plum Island. What Kirshen hopes is that Menino if he does build it uses it as an opportunity to lead by example on global warming by declaring the building will be the greenest city hall ever built. “All I know” Kirshen said of that area.

–>CPYRIGHT 2006 The Sun Herald Byline: Anita Lee Dec. 16–State Farm is no longer offering wind coverage for new customers in Mississippi’s six coastal counties and is reviewing whether it will continue to extend the coverage on renewals. Because the base hurricane deductible is restricted to 2 percent in Mississippi a higher deductible was not an option as it has been in other states said Robert L. Trippel who oversees the Southern Zone as senior vice president of claims for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. “ur alternative is at this point to go in with a policy that’s minus wind” Trippel said. “When and if we’re able to make adjustments we’ll begin writing wind.

(Eng-G1) at Newmarket to David Junior (Pleasant Tap). In late June of her six-year-old season Pride finally won a Group 1 event after eight tries and three in-the-money finishes at that level in the Prix Saint Cloud (Fr-G1) at the expense of Hurricane Run (Ire) (Montjeu [Ire]). This form was confirmed in her next outing when she finished a fast closing third to Shirocco and Hurricane Run at Longchamp beaten only a half-length. Next for Pride was a third attempt at the Arc. This time she did not disappoint by running the race of her life rallying boldly to finish a close second to Rail Link (Dansili [GB]) while defeating Japanese champion Deep Impact (Sunday Silence) Hurricane Run and Shirocco. However the two last races of Pride’s career were the inspiration for her trainer’s comparison of her to a fine bottle of wine in that she kept improving with age.

“You manage what you’re able to” said Johnston now a resident of Baltimore. The journey to her new home city has taken some twists and turns and through it all Johnston says there are many little coincidences making sure that she was meant to be where she is now. As Hurricane Katrina crept up on New rleans and the Gulf Coast in September of 2005 Johnston didn’t even know about it. A resident of the city for more than two decades Johnston was on vacation in Mexico in a place with no TV and little internet access. “Then one day I got an emergency phone call at my hotel” she explained. “It was my sister telling me about the storm. So we ran down to the internet cafe and the picture on the screen was huge… That was it we said ‘See you in a couple days’ and stayed in Houston. We were going to wait it out. “Hurricane Katrina marked the first time Johnston had ever evacuated New rleans for a storm. A resident of an apartment several floors up she’d stayed there through tropical storms and hurricanes ranging in category from one to three. “I’d been there with 20 inches of rain flooded the streets and I’d been without power for two days. “Waiting through Katrina was frantic she said as so many of her friends were scattered around the country. Some stayed behind too.
