The mayor and recovery group held a news conference to let everyone know of ongoing efforts involving 44 non profit groups– some faith based some government. Mayor Randy Roach told them “You really are shining stars in our community and have been for some time. ” They are all in their own ways trying to help people hurt by Hurricane Rita move ahead. Roach tells them “What we want to do is not only thank you for what you've done and thank you for the way in which you did it and thank you for giving hope and encouragement to people who needed hope and encouragement. But to remind you that the job is just beginning. ” While 211 can help with hurricane needs it can also help with almost any other problem one might have as Beverly McCormick explains. “Food clothing shelter if you're homeless if you're in poverty if you need wheel chair eye glasses if you need a support group for Alzheimers.
